Remembering the Last Bloom of Summer

Last Bloom: For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…

We are forecast-ed  to get a high of 4 very cold degrees. My studio is way too cold to handle clay and water! So what creative endeavor can I get into today? In the squirrly way my mind works, one idea leading to another,  I begin to learn new skills on my image editing program. Having read a few blogs online, I needed to practice what I had learned. Digging into my pottery photos, I rediscover an image I took in late October. I remember that day well; We were going to get the first hard freeze, and I had just cut the last two blooms from a dahlia, and found a female shaped candlestick that also works well for a bud vase. The delicate pink flowers were stunning. I had meant to write something then, but time and my to do list interfered, and the photo lay in digital storage until today. I’m glad I waited…For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven… I feel as if I have accomplished something, learned a new skill in digital editing that will be used in the future.

But then that squirrly mind of mine churns again, flowers in a photo leads to planning the next garden and I remember that while it is only 4 degrees today, in just a few weeks it will be garden time! The ultimate creative work I can do today is to plant the seeds that will grow in my flowerpots!
