Low fat Wilted Lettuce Salad
Low Fat Wilted Lettuce Salad
Traditional wilted lettuce salad is simply lettuce and bacon grease dressing. The yummieness is derived from bacon and all it’s grease which is incorporated into the dressing. Here is an alternative recipe that is as yummy as the original only without the extra fat and calories.
Cook 6 strips of turkey bacon in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 splash of liquid smoke until crispy. Crumble bacon and put back into pan. Put 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, and 1 egg into a bowl and mix. Add to bacon and cook over medium heat until mixture thickens. Pour immediately over *lettuce and enjoy!
*Do not use Iceberg lettuce, it is mostly water and will not wilt well. Yummy wilted lettuce recipe!
